5 Questions to ask visitors who come to your church

June 28, 2009

Would you be open to asking visitors what they think of your church?
In the back of every Outreach Magazine there is a section that grades churches on how visitors were treated. We certainly want our churches to be places welcome to visitors, but some churches haven’t done well at treated visitors with love.

Outreach has an unbeliever report on an unannounced visit to a local church. Outreach asks the question: “Could It Be Yours?”

1. What were your first impressions of the church?

2. What was it like inside?

3. What was the service like?

4. Did you connect with anyone?

5. Would you visit again?

10 easy ways to strengthen your marriage

June 17, 2009

As pastors it is easy to neglect our marriage tending to the flock. I’m here to let you know that your family is your first ministry. We must guard our marriage against failure. We don’t guard our marriage because it looks good. We guard our marriage because our family is first above our church members. By God’s grace I will do a better job at practicing this very thing.
Here are a few easy things to strengthen your marriage.

1. Date night- Carve out time in your schedule to just have a date night. You don’t have to go out of the house. you can watch a movie at home, have a candlelight dinner for two. Make it special.

2. Smile- Show some life. Don’t fake it.

3. Kiss- Show some affection. Don’t worry about PDA.

4. Laugh-Laughter is good medicine. I think I read that somewhere…

5. Listen- This is HUGE for us men. We have to learn to listen with our hears, eyes and heart.

6. Communicate- We can’t do it alone. We have to share our thoughts and often times accept some advice from our spouse who may help us make the right decision.

7. Cuddle- You’re not wimpy men who you cuddle with your wife!

8. Wash the dishes- Give your wife a break (if she is the one who washes dishes. This is not the norm in my home).

9. Cook- I score an A+ in this category. I COOK!!! Give your spouse a break and cook once or twice a week. Even with our busy schedules, we must share the load of house work.

10. Pray- We have to pray for our spouses. We must ask God to guard our relationship with Him. We must ask God to guard our relationship with our spouse.
When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord will lift up a standard against him!
